Lighting Up the Holidays: South Carolina Federal Sponsors Holiday Festival of Lights
For years, South Carolina Federal Credit Union has proudly supported the Holiday Festival of Lights at the James Island County Park. This annual event runs from mid-November to the end of December, and features over 750 dazzling light displays, plus festive treats and family-friendly activities.
Since its creation in 1990, the Holiday Festival of Lights has welcomed over 5 million people. Iconic Lowcountry and Charleston landmarks are beautifully depicted in lights, including Fort Sumter, Rainbow Row, the Cooper and Ravenel Bridges, and the USS Yorktown. The Ravenel Bridge display alone stands 30-feet tall and stretches roughly the length of a football field!
Visitors can enjoy the Festival Express, a train that runs nightly and offers a 15-minute ride through the stunning three-mile display. The old-fashioned carousel begins operating at 6 p.m. daily, providing timeless fun for all ages.
Other festival highlights include the Reindeer Workshop, where children of all ages can build their own plush animals. For those in need of last-minute gifts, the gift shop offers personalized ornaments, holiday décor, stocking stuffers, and more! Palmetto, the Holiday Festival of Lights' official Elf, adds even more fun with activities like DIY snow globes, Santa binoculars, indoor snowballs, and signature Palmetto Elf cookies.
This year is an especially exciting Holiday Festival of Lights for us as we are one of the Presenting Sponsors and had the opportunity to design our very own custom-built light display! Our logo, topped with a Santa hat, will shine brightly at the park entrance.

The festival runs nightly from 5:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., now through December 31.
