You should review information at the third parties’ sites to learn how these third parties collect and use information they collect from you.

How do we use Google Analytics?

We use Google Analytics to better understand how users are visiting and using our Sites. We do not use Google Analytics to track, collect, or upload any data that personally identifies an individual (such as name, address, or email address) or other data which can be reasonably linked to such information by Google. We do not receive personally identifiable information from Google about users on our Sites. You may review further information about how Google Analytics collects and processes data and how to control the information sent to Google at “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services” at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit a Digital Interface. Browser cookies are placed by a web server and let the server know when you return to a site you have visited before. When you visit our Digital Interfaces, we, or our service providers, may use cookies or other similar technologies to collect information on our Digital Interfaces. Some cookies can be cleared via your web browser. Others may be placed in an Adobe folder on your device; refer to Adobe for information on how to manage these types of cookies.

How do we use cookies?

We use cookies and information collected through their use to make your experience with us and certain other sites richer and more personalized based on the products, services, and other interactions you have with us and other sites. Information collected through the use of cookies may be used to make offers to you via online ads, email, U.S. mail, or telephone, subject to the privacy preferences you have on file with us. We use cookies, sometimes in conjunction with service providers, in online advertising either on our own Digital Interfaces or on third party sites to help determine which of our advertisements are most likely to appeal to you. We also use cookies for purposes such as maintaining continuity during an online session, collecting data about the use of our Digital Interfaces, monitoring online promotions, and anti-fraud and information security purposes.

Other parties that may collect information about your behavior when you use our Digital Interfaces are generally limited to service providers who may only use any information collected to provide services and marketing for us and not to provide services or advertising for any other party. Note, however, that we also provide certain links on our sites that allow you to interact with third parties who offer additional features, such as allowing you to share information on another platform, such as a social media platform. At other times, information from a third party may be embedded on our Digital Interfaces, such as a map. These features often function through the use of third-party cookies utilized by the third-party site, such as a social media platform. As a result, if you use any of these features, these third parties may be able to access information about your use of our Digital Interfaces, including your web browsing on the pages of our site where links to these features are in place. You may wish to review information at third party sites, such as social media platforms where you have an account, to determine how these third parties treat data they obtain with the use of cookies.

Can I manage or disable cookies?

Managing cookies is domain and browser specific. For example, you may manage our use of certain types of cookies on scfederal.org or by using an industry accepted opt-out preference signal such as the Global Privacy Control (see more details below). Your preference applies to the domain and the browser you are currently using. It does not apply to different browsers or other domains managed by us. If you visit this domain using a different browser or delete your browser cookies, you will need to exercise your preference again. Your browser may allow you to manage cookies, including rejecting them altogether. Refer to your browser provider for more information on managing cookies. Please note that disabling cookies may limit the functionality we can provide you through our Digital Interfaces. You may also need to accept cookies in order to maintain certain online advertising opt-out elections (see "Use of Information for Advertising; Online Behavioral Advertising" section below).

Global Privacy Control (GPC) is a service that lets you opt out of sharing information for targeted advertising on nonaffiliated websites, applications, or services. You can enable this service through specific browsers or browser extensions (see which browsers are GPC-enabled at the Global Privacy Control website https://globalprivacycontrol.org/). Once you activate the GPC setting, your browser will automatically send participating websites a "do not sell or share my personal information" signal.

Industry standards are currently evolving, and we may not separately respond to or take any action with respect to a "do not track" configuration set in your internet browser.

Additional options to manage cookies: If you receive an ad delivered on a third-party site in part based on information collected through the use of cookies, you may opt out of receiving such ads by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative's Consumer Opt-Out link (https://optout.networkadvertising.org/?c=1) or the Digital Advertising Alliance's Consumer Opt-Out link (https://optout.aboutads.info/?c=2&lang=EN) and learn how to opt-out of receiving interest-based advertising from companies that participate in those programs. This opt-out works via cookies set on a particular browser, so if you delete cookies from your browser, or use a different browser or device, you will need to opt out again.

For mobile devices, you can turn off personal ads on iOS devices (https://support.apple.com/en-us/105131) or opt out of ads personalization on Android devices (https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/3405269/).

What types of cookies do we use?

There are two types of cookies – session and persistent.

Session cookies expire at the end of a web browsing session when you close your browser. They help the site remember your actions during the current website visit.

Persistent cookies remain stored on your device between browsing sessions until a pre-set expiration period determined by us or our service providers. These types of cookies allow us to improve website experiences and place advertisements.

There are four categories of cookies we may use on our site:

Strictly necessary. These cookies are necessary for our site to function or to enable functionality requested by you. They're needed to do things like securely signing on to our site, applying for a product or service, or honoring a language preference. You can set your browser to block all cookies, but some parts of our site won't work without them.

Functional. These cookies enable an enhanced or personalized experience. They may be set by us or third-party providers whose services we have available on our site. This may include things like playing videos on our site or downloading PDF forms or seeing content personalized to you. If these cookies are blocked, then some of these services may not function.

Performance and analytical. These cookies allow us to monitor the performance of our website, such as how many people are visiting our site and how they got there, so we can measure and improve your experience on our site. If these are blocked, we have less information available to us to continue to improve our site.

Marketing and advertising. These cookies may be set by us or through third parties we use for advertising. This information is used to understand your use of our site so we may show you more relevant online content and advertising. If you block or turn them off, you may still see online advertisements, but they won't be tailored to you based on your browsing behavior.

An IP address is identified and logged automatically in our server log files whenever a user visits a Digital Interface, along with the time of the visit and the pages that were visited. We use IP addresses for purposes such as calculating Digital Interface usage levels, helping diagnose server problems, and administering the Digital Interfaces.
  • Using geolocation and other location information transmitted by your device, if you have enabled location services on the device, and using biometrics, including behavioral biometrics, relating to your use of your device for identity verification, fraud avoidance, and security purposes.

Do you collect information from children?

Our Digital Interfaces are not intended for individuals under the age of thirteen (13) years old. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under the age of thirteen (13) years old, and additionally request that such individuals do not provide personal information through our Digital Interfaces. What is online behavioral advertising and can I opt out of it?

Service advertisements based on a person's online activities over time and across third party websites and online services is generally known as "online behavioral advertising." Here are some tips and other important information regarding online behavioral advertising:

  • If you are given an opportunity to opt out from online behavioral advertising and you make an opt-out election, then in order to maintain the opt-out election at our Digital Interfaces and at other websites that might serve behavioral advertisements on our behalf, your browser must be enabled to accept cookies. If you delete cookies, use a new device, access our Digital Interfaces or other websites from a different device, login under a different screen name, or change web browsers, you will need to opt out again.
  • You also may be able to avoid online behavioral advertising by disabling scripting in your browser. Please check the security settings in your browser to determine the status of scripting settings. However, please note that if you disable scripting, you may be unable to use certain features on a website. In other cases, the website may become inoperable, your experience may not be optimal, you may not be using the latest standards for safe and secure transactions, or you may not be allowed to access a site.
  • Some browsers may provide a "do not track" or similar setting. Our sites may not respond to such settings. If you enable such a setting it may not prevent the collection of information about your online activities over time and across third party websites when you visit our sites.
  • You should be aware that even if you exercise a choice not to receive targeted advertisements in connection with online behavioral advertising, your election does not necessarily stop the collection of information about your online activities over time and across third party websites and online services for purposes other than online behavioral advertising.
  • You may still receive generic advertising (i.e., advertising that is not based on your online activities over time and across third party websites and online services) even if you opt out of online behavioral advertising, and opting out of online behavioral advertising may not result in the termination of advertising and promotions provided in connection with rewards programs we offer.

Social Media.

We may from time to time use social media websites and applications (e.g., Facebook®, X®, YouTube®, and LinkedIn®) to interact with you and to communicate information about us and about our products and services. We may collect information from our interactions with you at such social media websites and applications, and we may use the information for the purposes and uses described in this Digital Privacy Notice. If we disclose any terms of use at specific social media pages that we manage, you also will be subject to those terms when you interact with those pages. The owners and operators of social media websites and applications may impose their own terms of use and privacy policies with respect to the use of their websites and applications. This Digital Privacy Notice does not govern the use, handling, and treatment of content that you may post at social media websites and applications by the owners and operators of those websites and applications. You should review the terms of use and privacy policies of any social media website or application that you use to make sure you understand your rights and obligations with regard to content that you post.

Security.

We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect personal information collected through the Digital Interfaces. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings. In the event we share information with third party service providers or joint marketers, we restrict the ability of such parties to use or disclose the information we furnish. We also require such parties to apply appropriate security measures to protect information. We retain your information for as long as needed: (i) to conduct business with you; (ii) as needed for the purposes outlined in this Digital Privacy Notice or at the time of collection; or (iii) as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce any agreements. For more information, please review the Consumer Privacy Notice. Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure, and we disclaim any representation or warranty that our information security systems or those of our service providers and joint marketers are invulnerable to breach or compromise.

Information about parties that are not natural persons.

Notwithstanding any term or provision to the contrary in this Digital Privacy Notice, any information collected by or through the use of any Digital Interface that describes, identifies, or relates to a party that is not a natural person may be used, disclosed, and shared by us for any lawful purpose, subject to the requirements and restrictions of applicable law.

Changes to this Digital Privacy Notice.

We may change our privacy practices and amend this Digital Privacy Notice in our discretion. Any changes or amendments we make will be effective when we post them at the applicable Digital Interface, unless we expressly provide a different effective date. You agree that the posting of such changes or amendments at the applicable Digital Interface shall constitute effective notice thereof to you. You agree to review the Digital Privacy Notice periodically to ensure that you are familiar with the current terms of this Digital Privacy Notice. You acknowledge and agree that any changes we make are binding on you as of the effective date we dictate, but in any event, your use of the applicable Digital Interface on or after the effective date constitutes your affirmative acceptance of such changes. The effective date set forth at the beginning of this Digital Privacy Notice indicates when this Digital Privacy Notice was last changed. V. Sales of Personal Information

In the preceding twelve (12) months, South Carolina Federal has not sold personal information subject to the CCPA, including personal information of minors under the age of 16. For purposes of this Notice, “sold” means the disclosure of Personal Information to a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration.

VI. California Residents Rights Under CCPA

This section describes the rights under CCPA for California residents and explains how to exercise those rights. You have the right to:
  • Request that we disclose to you, free of charge, the following information covering the 12 months preceding your request:
    • The categories of personal information collected about you;
    • The categories of sources from which personal information was collected;
    • Our business purpose for collecting personal information about you;
    • The categories of third parties with whom we disclosed that personal information; and
    • The specific pieces of personal information we collected about you.
  • Request that we delete personal information collected about you, unless the CCPA recognizes an exception;
  • Be free from unlawful discrimination for exercising your rights under the CCPA.

Only you, or someone legally authorized to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable consumer request related to your personal information and no more than twice within a 12-month period. Making a verifiable consumer request does not require you to create an account with us.

We cannot respond to your request or provide you with personal information if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the personal information relates to you. We will only use personal information provided in a verifiable consumer request to verify the requestor's identity or authority to make the request.

We endeavor to respond to a verifiable consumer request within forty-five (45) days of its receipt. If we require more time to process your request (up to an additional 45 days), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing.

Any disclosures we provide will only cover the 12-month period preceding the receipt of the verifiable consumer request. In some instances, we may not be able to honor your request. For example, we will not honor your request if we cannot verify your identity. Additionally, we will not honor your request if an exception applies, such as where the personal information that we maintain about you is not subject to the CCPA’s access or deletion rights. The response we provide will explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request if applicable.
