South Carolina Federal Sponsors MONOPOLY: Charleston Edition

The Holy City is flush with fake money bearing the South Carolina Federal Credit Union logo. Luckily, there's no scam in sight – it's MONOPOLY: Charleston Edition!

South Carolina Federal is thrilled to participate in a Charleston-themed version of this iconic game. First patented in 1935, MONOPOLY has become one of the most popular board games in the U.S. In addition to the original MONOPOLY game, there are spin off games, themed versions, and city editions.

The Charleston edition of MONOPOLY was announced in early 2023. We were asked to become one of the sponsors of the game, and in return, we'd get to leave our mark on history: the South Carolina Federal logo on every piece of Charleston Monopoly money, two gameboard squares, and two Community Chest cards. We knew we had to "pass go" and say yes!

The Holy City has always been our home. In fact, we were founded in January 1936 – just one month after Monopoly was patented. As we've grown from a 14-member credit union to a 175,000-member credit union, we've watched Charleston grow as well.

Whether you are a MONOPOLY enthusiast, a lover of the Holy City, or simply looking for a way to relive some of your childhood memories, the game gives you a chance to immerse yourself in Charleston's culture and explore some of its most popular landmarks.

The board features beloved businesses, attractions, and public spaces of our city, including the Angel Oak Tree, the Pineapple Fountain, the South Carolina Aquarium, Rainbow Row, the Ravenel Bridge. There are even local charities on the board, including Lowcountry Food Bank and Lowcountry Orphan Relief.
