The South Carolina Federal Foundation
Good morning. And welcome to the--
Today, we are at the Alzheimer's Walk right here at Joe Riley Stadium.
It's just an awesome event. I started going last year. And I was like, I have to do this every year from now on.
I work in HR at South Carolina Federal. And I've seen firsthand just how many people Alzheimer's and other dementias touch. I was a caregiver myself when I was 17.
And I know just how hard it is to be a caregiver. So it's really near and dear to our hearts. And it's just a really important cause.
Come on out, if anybody wants to write on their flowers. Come on now.
It's important for me because I actually lost my great grandmother to Alzheimer's.
It hits personal to me. Over the last year, I found out that my best friend's dad actually has Alzheimer's. There are so many people that are affected with it every day.
So many people that you may not think about. And it's important to find a cure.
Our mission, Credit Union's mission as a whole, is all about people helping people. And the South Carolina Federal Foundation, it helps us be an extension of that mission.
When it comes to volunteering, we are not only passionate. We are very adamant and very intentional, and just understanding that everything we do, it's not for a gimmick. It's not for promotion. It's because we literally have a heart to do this and to be there for our people.
In my first week volunteering, mixing and mingling with my co-workers and colleagues, and they stand behind. It's not just a model. It's actually something that they stand behind. People helping people.
I always liked the idea of volunteering. But I didn't really know how to start or where to look. And they provide so many opportunities that make it a lot easier.
I'm really proud to work at South Carolina Federal Credit Union.
We really take pride in giving back to the community. But people helping people is just really in the philosophy of what we do as an organization. So it's important that our members see what we're doing in the community and giving back because we do genuinely care.
